The EGR itself is just a valve that allows exhaust gasses to enter the engine for a second time to be burned again. On a Diesel, those gasses have particulates which over time can damage the cylinder walls and cause pre-mature failure. Best thing for the 6.0 is an EGR delete (which really just blocks off exhaust from getting into the cooler).
2015. Engine. 3.0 EcoDiesel. If you do either a EGR or full emissions delete any remaining AEM warranty will be gone, it covers pretty much everything that handles air, fuel or exhaust for 4yrs/40K miles from when the update done. The EPA has cracked down on all the stateside tuners, you'll need to look north of the boarder to HD Diesel Supply.
cerberusiam. There is no EGR pieces to take off an 06. The EGR is an in-cylinder solution that is achived with valve timing, injection timing, turbo, and injection event control. Major dollars to make a difference. Better results can be achived by using a different cam, a programmer to adjust timing, and a different turbo.

I can get a new one from the dealer for $650 plus labor or I can spend about $1500 (including labor)and purchase the hardware and tune to remove the EGR valve completely and this will have the added benefit of increasing the horsepower and torque by about 70.
Here were the steps I used to delete the egr from my truck. Keep in mind this is very low budget because I really don't care. 1. Removed egr tube, dpfe sensor and egr valve. 2. Cut the egr tube and took off the threaded nut that connects to the exhaust. 3. Put a spare bolt inside of the threaded nut and tightened it to the exhaust manifold.
EGR Delete - Emission Testing. I purchased a non running 2005 Jeep Liberty CRD a few months ago. With the help of this forum (I'm a newbie) I've got it up and running great. Compression Test, Cam Sensor, Crank Sensor, MAP Sensor, Front Control Module, Timing Belt and Motor Mounts. It had a partially completed EGR delete done on it which I
The EGR Delete Module works by modifying ONE of the ambient air temperate readings. Each model vehicle is different, but the Module set this temperate reading to what is required by the ECU to shut down the EGR System to a dormant state. E.G. The ECU in the 4JJ1 Isuzu motor shuts down the EGR System if the ambient air temperate drops below 5
Reasons you will hear for removing the EGR system. 1) If it was already failing (exhaust or coolant leak for example). 2) Tired of cleaning intake every xxx,xxx miles. 3) Make engine compartment less cluttered, more room to work / see.
96stanggt said: Those exhaust gases being recirculated actually cool off the intake tract to cool combustion temps. It turns off at wot but at cruising and part throttle it keeps the temps cooler not make them warmer. 96stangt is correct that without the EGR in place normal cruise will have hotter cylinder temps.
Generally, kits are available that can help you delete certain performance-limiting components of your PACCAR engine. Some of the most popular deletions include DPF, DEF, and EGR deletes. However, this should only be done for private and off-highway driving purposes. Otherwise, you could face penalties.
